6th Extraordinary General Assembly, 30th Board of Directors Meetings & Conference

In coordination with Correos, the 30th Board of Directors Meeting followed by a Business Development Meeting and the 6th Extraordinary General Assembly were held in Madrid, Spain on the 26th of November 2018. The meetings were attended by 16 active country members and 3 countries as observers with a record of attendance of 53 registered participants.

Different topics related to the Union management as well as to development projects were discussed and adopted during the meetings. The General Assembly approved also unanimously the accession of Albania and Algeria as new member countries under the terms of the PUMed Convention.

 

A conference under the topic of "Sustainable Development Goals: Postal Operators as key partners in the development of the 2030 Agenda" was organized by Correos on the 27th of November at the Casa Arabe premises in Madrid. Presentations by prominent speakers from different Spanish administrations as well as from the UPU joined the participants to expose the challenges related to the Sustainable Development Goals declared by the United Nations and the involvement of the postal organizations to contribute to these universal goals. It was also the occasion for the postal operators to present few national postal initiatives related to SDGs exposed under three panels: dignity and people, Planet and Prosperity.

 

The Innovation award ceremony concluded the PUMed two-days event. The three finalists (Groupe LaPoste - France, LibanPost - Lebanon and CTT - Portugal) presented their proposals.  The prize went to LibanPost for its initiative of "Integrated Car Service Pack". Ms. Elena Fernandez, the head of International Relations at Correos submitted the trophy to Mr. Khalil Daoud, LibanPost Chairman and Managing Director. For more information regarding the proposals, please consult the members reserved section.
