Morrocan Post "Barid Al-Maghrib" celebrates the new PUMed philatelic issue and launches two postage stamps
As usual since 2014, Barid Al-Maghrib send out on July 13th, 2020 two special postage stamps on PUMed chosen theme "traditional gastronomy in the Mediterranean".
These two stamps represents watercolor drawings, which shows the most two entrenched culinary traditions of the Mediterranean region of northern Morocco.
Indeed, the first stamp illustrates the "Bissara", mashed beans served in an earthenware container with bread and tea. The whole is placed on a “Fouta” striped in red, white and blue, an emblematic fabric of rural women in northern Morocco.
The second stamp represents the tagine "Tagra", a fish dish, originally fishermen, and subsequently adopted by villagers in northwest Morocco. Cooked fish is mainly composed of sardines or anchovies. The dish is named after the unglazed terracotta container, oval or round, with no lid.
These two stamps represent Morocco in the contest that is launched by the Postal Union for the Mediterranean, from the 13th of July to the 13th of October 2020 on the website : . This competition aims to elect the most beautiful "traditional gastronomy in the Mediterranean" themed philatelic stamp or bloc of stamps launched by PUMED member countries.
